Standing at 6’4” with lanky arms, readymade clothes don’t quite cut it for me. Needing a classic well-tailored white shirt for a special occasion, I found myself at a plush, high-ceiling Raymond’s Made to Measure showroom for their ‘fashion engineering’ bespoke experience.
After I was seated in a plush armchair, the process began with a quick consultation. Several fabric swatch booklets and style catalogues later, I had zeroed in on the fabric, a cut, and the many other style choices (collar, yoke, sleeve, tail, pleats, placket, cuff and more). Finally, I was whisked away into the measuring suite where my measurements were recorded for posterity – I could now place future orders from any Raymond Made to Measure store. Once the measurements were recorded, the pinning was done to create the perfect silhouette of the shirt. Next, I was photographed from different angles to capture my fit and posture.
The details were then sent to an exclusive garment crafting facility where the individual fabric pieces were precision-cut by laser. While the consultation was under an hour, I had my precision-crafted signature shirt hanging smug in my wardrobe, in under a week.
Cost: Rs 5,000 upward
