NEGRONI: Stick to basics

Ian Sedwell, Beverage manager, JW Marriott, New Delhi 

From a smooth martini to classics with a twist, Ian Sedwell, the expatriate Beverage Manager at JW Marriott New Delhi can always be found talking animatedly about the importance of fresh ingredients, fruits and herbs, often tinkering with a fruit-veggie mix that dominates his portions. One of his personal favourites is the very popular whisky cocktail called ‘The Long Walk’ named after the long walk to Scotland and the home of whisky. 

Having gained experience at some of the busiest restaurants in Soho, London, Sedwell has competed in numerous international cocktail competitions and represented some famous brands in his career. His philosophy is: “Keep it simple, focus on the entire experience and never forget to smile”. As a bartending expert, he works to evolve cocktail culture and bring eclectic offerings to the table. 

An ardent traveller, Sedwell takes inspiration and appreciates beverages from the destinations he visits. Besides travelling, he is an avid football fan.
