One hundred and ten years after French aviator Louis Bleriot's groundbreaking flight across the English Channel, the latest Friend of the Brand and flying pioneer Franky Zapata successfully crossed the English Channel piloting his legendary jet-propelled Flyboard Air in a first-of-its-kind adventure. He was wearing the Zenith Type 20 Chronograph Adventure watch during the history-making 22-minute (35.4km) flight on August 4.
Franky Zapata is an entrepreneur, inventor and a top athlete whose undying pioneering spirit and athletic prowess works in perfect accordance with Zenith's DNA. His jet-powered Flyboard Air features the Zapata© technology platform which is deemed the safest, easiest and lightest personal aviation system ever created.
A comfortable and robust timepiece, the Zenith Type 20 Chronograph Adventure is powered by the automatic El Primero column- wheel chronograph movement that clocks in a power reserve of 50 hours.
The 45mm bronze case, with a grained khaki dial featuring oversized Arabic numerals offers an easy readability ratio which is perfect for a flight like this.
Additionally, the easily adjustable ratcheted crown and a battle-ready khaki matrix calfskin leather strap adds more comfort and accessibility for the wearer whether he is on land or flying across the English channel like Franky Zapata.
Unveiling of the Frederique Constant Slimline 50-hour Power Reserve
Leading Swiss watch brand Frederique Constant unveiled their 28th in-house calibre within its Manufacture collection — the Slimline 50-hour Power Reserve in Mumbai last week. The new collection is a classic watch designed with the renowned FC-703 base and a 50-hour power reserve module added to create the relatively young brand's 28th in-house calibre FC-723 Manufacture automatic calibre.
The timepiece is available in a 40mm stainless steel or rose gold-plated stainless steel case with different dial colours including silver, dark grey and navy blue. The dial features an easy-to-read power reserve indicator at 10 o'clock, elongated Feuille hands, sun-ray decoration and printed Roman numerals give the watch its classic design.
When asked about the favourite part of the newly launched Frederique Constant Slimline 50-hour Power Reserve, Williams Besse, International Sales Director for Frederique Constant, said, "For me, it's clearly the size. I've been requesting a 40mm Slimline in the collection for a long time now and finally, we have one. Of course, the design, quality, the ratio of price and quality is very good. You may also like the complication. But for me, it's the size."
