The A-shaped limestone building topped by a light box seemed rather austere to be housing a hotel owned and designed by one of the most iconic names in the world of fashion and luxury. But that was before my personal Lifestyle Manager escorted me to my luxurious suite at the Armani Hotel Milano where everything from the plush furniture to the bathrobes has been designed by Giorgio Armani himself.
The Armani experience starts at the seventh floor reception area, complete with splendid city views, mother-of-pearl doors, leather-lined walls, tiny light buds and designer purses displayed like museum pieces in light boxes. A quiet minimalism is evident in my modern and masculine suite where lacquer cabinets hide minibars loaded with spirits and Armani water (yes, he also does water).

A bold curved staircase leads to the bedroom upstairs equipped with a kitchen and a private cinema. The bathrooms feel rich with luminous marble walls, big side-lit mirrors, double sinks with sleek polished chrome fixtures and deep soaking tubs. The beautifully fragranced Armani amenities are totally worth pocketing.
Meals are a Michelin level experience where executive chef Francesco Mascheroni whips magic with baby smoked squids, sea urchin and foie gras. Looking up from the plate will be awarded with the most gorgeous views of the Duomo Cathedral and the futuristic skyscrapers of Porta Nuova. The Bamboo Bar with its louvered window wall and backlit onyx features is where I settle with a cocktail and watch the fashion set of Milan. There is also a spa, and a pool with jaw-dropping views of the Milan skyline.
