The luxurious and chic Coco Shambala is Sindhudurg's best-kept secret!

Coco Shambala is an escapist's dream resort.

Located on a cliff top overlooking the Bhogave beach in Malvan, Coco Shambala has views that alone are worth the trip. From its luxurious living room, guests can admire the entire expanse of the beach and the mountains nearby.

The resort itself is as impressive as its location: An eco-friendly property built on stilts with coconut furniture. The four villas are tucked away amidst dense foliage and blend a contemporary aesthetic with quirky retro touches. Each villa comes with two large bedrooms facing the sea. Everything in this bright and breezy resort begs to be photographed, from the ancient wooden teal door at the entrance to the eclectic art in the rooms (old world stove, copper glasses, stone sculptures), and the gorgeous sit outs that face the palm-fringed white sand beach. But most Instagram-worthy of all is the private plunge pool in your own villa. If you spend long enough in the water, you may be able to catch the dolphins dancing in the sea. Do keep your binoculars ready. Rooms, not surprisingly, are large and impressive, with soaring wood-beamed ceilings and cute beach-facing sitouts.

The piece de résistance? It’s the 5-course meal designed by culinary director and chef Shagun Mehra. It includes local delicacies and international favourites using herbs and micro greens from the resort’s own gardens.

The feeling is one of secluded serenity, with rooms and public areas designed as pavilions that blur the distinction between indoors and out, and a level of service that borders on telepathy. Must indulge in: The wonderfully blissful cashew kernel and sea salt massage at the spa. Should you wish to leave your little slice of paradise, the drive into Malvan village in a 4x4 and the sunset at Sindhudurg fort are highly recommended. The resort also arranges for barbeques on the beach.
